Summit Public Schools opened their first school, Summit Preparatory Charter High School in 2003. Summit Public Schools now operates four schools in Redwood City and San Jose, CA with plans to expand to at least ten schools in the region by 2020.

Lighthouse Academies was founded in November 2003 by our current President and CEO, Michael Ronan. In 1998, a group of six parents had the dream of creating a school that would be a gateway to college for all students regardless of race, income, or learning style. They founded Gateway High School, a college preparatory, public charter school in San Francisco. Since then, more than 96% of their graduates have gone on to colleges across the country and the world (double the statewide rate). In 2011, they expanded their model with the addition of a middle school.
